Ragnar and the Big Apple

Logan took on Ragnar again this year and this time they did the one in New York.  Naturally I couldn't miss out on this and although I was pregnant (again) and unable to run it, I did tag along with the kids and probably had more fun than Logan did.  We stayed at our friend's house in Connecticut.  They were so nice to accommodate all of the runners plus a few wives and my kids. It was about a seven hour drive.  We got there late Thursday night.  Logan was in the second van so he got to sleep in a little and didn't leave until 9.  Vanessa Bunker (also secretly pregnant at the time) and Sarah Bylund tagged along and we all hung out while our husbands ran.  They had a big house with a big yard so we just hung out that day.  Once evening hit, we headed to down town New Canaan to have dinner and window shop.  It was a cute little town to explore.  That evening we watched a chick flick.  The next day we took the train into New York City.  I had only been to NY once and was a little nervous to take the kids all by myself but Sarah and Vanessa were super helpful and I am so glad I went.  Jack loved riding the train in and it took us straight to Grand Central Terminal which was cool.  From there we ran to see if Broadway tickets were available for Sarah and Vanessa to go see wicked.  Long story short, they decided not to do a Broadway show which I was secretly happy about because then they got to hang out with me the whole day.  We did some shopping, the M&M store, and had some brunch.  Then we randomly decided to do a tour on a double decker bus.  Jack loves double decker buses and was so excited.  It was such a cool way to see the city.  I feel like we saw so much in only a couple of hours.  We hopped on and off at a few places.  We went to China town which was a fun experience and thanks to Vanessa (I am way too much of a pushover) she got me some rip off Ray Ban sunglasses.  We did great until it was time to head back to Grand Central Terminal and they were having some scheduling issues plus we hadn't eaten much all day (which isn't good for kids and pregnant women) and my phone died and Jack had to go potty, all at once.  But a miracle occurred and we made it on the train and even when we had to switch trains.  We were blessed.  We got back just in time for the team to start arriving.  The Guynns made us a delicious dinner and we hung out in the hot tub and relaxed.  The next morning we headed home.

The Guynns were so nice to entertain my kids.  Jack in his own world playing trains.

Logan getting ready for a run.  He did great of course and ran about 18-20 miles.  He said it was so pretty running through upstate New York.
