28 Weeks

Here we are at 28 weeks.  I feel like time is flying by and we are so busy chasing after Jack, dealing with law school and just life in general that I have barely had time to realize I will soon have another baby.  We are excited though and can't wait to meet her.  I have been trying to introduce the idea of a sister to Jack.  Maybe something is sinking in.  He will give her hugs and kisses but we will see if that continues once she is actually here.  We are sure struggling with a name and even I am interested to see what we end up with.  I feel pretty good so far.  I have done good exercising again this round, but am starting to run out of motivation fast.  One fun thing I have never experienced is heartburn.  What is that all about?  Tums have been my friend lately.  Other than that I can't complain.

I love to see the Temple

We finally made a trip to the temple.  It is about a 2.5 hrs to get to the DC temple.  It takes more effort to do temple trips here than it did in Utah when we could just drive up the road, but it is definitely worth it.  We left early Saturday morning.  I did a session of initiatory and then Logan did.  We took turns hanging out with Jack.  It was a nice day and it wasn't hard to keep him entertained.  He loves playing in our car and the visitor center had some fun distractions as well as the temple grounds did too.  The DC temple is huge
(at least 7 floors) and so pretty.  When we pulled up to the temple Jack thought he was going to go to nursery.

The visitor center had Christmas trees on display.  This was Jack's first exposure to them since he has started to really notice things.  He loved them.  Especially all the "balls".

Bounce N Play

Recently my friend Stacey and I took our boys to a  place called Bounce N Play.  It was really kid friendly, reasonably priced and lots of fun.  I seriously think Jack could spend a good 3 hours there.  There was a toddler area with slides, toys, a loft, ball pit, and some fun toys like giant dump trucks and a roller coaster.  There also was a play area with lots of blow up slides and mazes, an art room for all sorts of creating, a pond with fish, a snack area, and if even a few treadmills for the parents if you felt like working out.  Haha.  Kai and  Jack had so much fun together and Jack still talks about it.

Just like at home, Jack hoarded all the trucks and lined them up back and forth at each end of the room over and over.

There was a toddler sized slide which gave me a break from hauling him up those giant slides.  There is no picture of me but I am sure I looked super ridiculous being so pregnant and trying to maneuver my way up and down them.

Swim Swim

We took Jack swimming to the indoor pool here in Cville.  Swimming has been hit and miss with him in the past.  Sometimes he loves it, other times he hates it.  Luckily we got him on a good night and he loved it.  He loved the slides as well as when we would put on his life jacket and let him "swim" his way through the lazy pool.  We were the only ones there which was nice in some ways and awkward in other ways.  For example, Logan and I decided to each take a turn down the big slide.  Like we really care, but they were there.  So I headed up to the slide when the lifeguard whistles, makes me stop and wait so two lifeguards can both run up there and get into position and watch us each take a turn going down like idiots.  It was a fun night and we even topped it off with pizza and root beer.  Its so fun having little family nights like this.  Simple, but they are the best.

Jack loved the red bracelet he had to wear until he saw it the next day and suddenly freaked out and wanted it off.

Christmas pic swap

My friend Jamie and I did a little family Christmas card photo swap.  So you will probably be getting one of these in the mail.  We forgot about daylight savings time and the fact that our children are nuts on Sundays due to schedules being thrown off so we each had about 10 minutes to snap some photos.  Thankfully we each got a few.  We did them on the UVA campus.  Super pretty in the fall.

26 Weeks

26 down, 14 to go.  Hopefully only 13 to go.  Logan and I have made our bets about baby girl.  Logan says he thinks she will be bald, I say lots of hair.  Logan's estimated due date is Feb 17th around 1 or 2 a.m.  I say Feb 15th around 4 or 5pm.  Logan guesses she will be 7 lbs 2 oz.  I said 6 lbs 12 oz.  Can you see a pattern here?  I hope for a beautiful girl with loads of hair born at a nice 4 pm who is small to deliver.  Whereas Logan apparently wants a bald baby who is bigger to deliver at the wee hours of the morning and a few days later.  Geez.

And PS, don't mind my hair.  I am in hair crisis and can't figure out what to do with it.  Isn't that always the case though?

Vroom Vroom

As long as I can remember Jack has loved cars.  It started with wheels when he was just a few months old and then progressed into cars and now it is any transportation.  I have bought him a few non-transportation toys and he thinks they are ok, but he just loves cars.  He is getting older and more into imaginative play.  One of my favorite children's toy is blocks so I decided to make him some road blocks.  They weren't too much effort and pretty cheap and thankfully he loves them.  At first we just did roads but now we built ramps and tunnels too.  I could play blocks all day with Jack.  It brings back my childhood memories of building elaborate cities with Staci and driving mini micros on them.

Trick or Treat on the Lawn

No worries, this is my last Halloween post.  The big tradition in Cville is to do the UVA trick or treat on the lawn.  They open all of the dorm doors and TONS of candy is provided (seriously these kids get hooked up) and the kids can trick or treat to 52 doors in one place.  So Jenna and I braved the bus system on our own and went to central campus with Olivia and Jack.  Our husbands of course could not attend.  It turned out to be a success and really fun.  Jack was thrilled to ride on a bus.  Once we got to the lawn, we only hit 7 or 8 doors because the kids didn't really care.  They were more interested in the dressed up animals, balloons, and leaves.  We were fine with that.  We hung out for a while and then caught a bus home.  I am excited to take Jack next year when he "gets" Halloween a little bit more.

After a long day of Halloween fun we had the traditional soup and bread.  My mom started doing this on Halloween when we were in high school and I liked it so we will carry it on.
