birthdays, bowling, rats, and a homecoming

I figured its time for my monthly post.

Logan hit the big 25 last month. A quarter of a century. For his birthday I did a rock theme. It involved the Red rock cafe, rocky road ice cream, and the movie Rocky. We also went to the movie Valkyrie. It wasn't part of the plan. We were supposed to go rock climbing but Logan was a little bit ill. All in all we had a wonderful time.



A couple weeks ago we had Madee and Lafe up to hang out with us. We've been wanting to do this since we moved up here and were glad Alice and Bruce allowed it. We went blacklight bowling (which by the way I've discovered is a hidden talent of mine), snowboarding at Beaver mountain and to the USU basketball game. We also watched lots of Planet Earth. Then to top it off, Bruce and Alice took us to breakfast! It was a good time and we'd love to have them up again.



Mckell is finally home from her mission (Long Beach Cali). Hooray! My texting has probably tripled since she's been home. Oh how I've missed her laugh. We went to Gunnison to hear her speak- wonderful, just wonderful.



We also went bowling while we were in Gunnison and went to Wingers with Mir, Glen, Dave, Steve, Gracy, and Madee. We had a little wager going. I won the first game, but in the end fell short of the $6.00 cash bucket.



And finally, Valentines day. We've come to the realization that despite our best efforts- we are white trash and cheap. We had big intentions on V day but in the end decided to sleep in, go swimming, eat at Cafe Rio and buy some pet rats. There you have it. And I might add it was a wonderful, wonderful day.
On Friday we had a Valentines Tea at preschool. Amy, Alicia and I made some kickin Valentine bags for one another.

snowmen vs. elves

Oh how I love the holidays. Our December was very eventful. We took some pictures for a Christmas card in the park next to our house. Logan is always a trooper to let me take pictures and play with the camera. We also came upon some ugly Christmas sweaters that Jason and Mysha had that we just couldn't pass up taking a picture in them too. We found a tiny tree that we decorated with my dollar store ornaments. It turned out lovely.
We did lots of snowboarding this month. We used our Warren Miller tickets and went to the Canyons boarding. It was fun, but I felt a little out of place there. There were some rather snooty people there. It was still fun though. We went to Gunnison on Christmas Eve. Over the break we went to a couple parties, boarded and relaxed. We both ended up catching a 24 hour bug. I swear every time we go to Gunnison we get sick.
Madee and Lafe were troopers to come snowboarding with us so much. We went three times up to Fairview (nothing like free boarding) and we treated ourselves by going to Brian Head once. Everyone has improved so much since we first started. The last day we went to Fairview we had a huge bunch with us. Participants included: me, Logan, Lafe, Madee, Colby Caldwell aka Bite Size, Glen and his brother Dave, Hannah and B Rad Jackson. It was a great trip other than the fact Bradly got a concussion. I wasn't happy about that. Hannah and I had a little competion to see who could make it to the bottom of the hill with the most water in their bottle. It was a tie. I also crocheted a lot of beanies because of all the boarding. I made 6 to be exact. All in all, our families spoiled us and it was another terrific season. We are so blessed and have so much to be thankful for. G

Snowboarding and Pigs

Lately Logan and I have had this fascination with piglets. It started a while back when Staci sent me an e-mail about a tiger who raised piglets because her cubs died. Well here and there we've had encounters with pigs and now we fancy them and hope to get a few one day. (our future pet list is getting quite long).
We went to the Warren Miller snowboarding movie this week. You pay 13 bucks a ticket and go to the movie. In your program there is a free pass to the Canyons in Park City thats worth 80 bucks. The people in the movie were nuts. I have no desire to jump out of helicopter and snowboard but I am quite fanatic about snowboarding cautiously. We welcome snowstorms and are counting down the days till we get to go. USA! USA!

October Fun

We dressed as a car hop and burger boy this year for Halloween. We won most creative costume at the ward party. We attended the pumpkin walk, always a good time. I also took my preschool class there. I got to wear my roller skates to work on Halloween. It made me quite resourceful.

We also went to the homecoming game against Fresno State. That was a disappointing game. We were ahead until Fresno magically won with 2 seconds remaining. I randomly decided to dye my hair. I felt I did a good job considering my lack of training.


We decided to paint pumpkins this year. I don't why we haven't been doing that all along. It was much easier than carving. We decided to just share a pumpkin so my half was a harry potter kitty and Logan's half was a gangster vampire. It turned out quite freaky. We love fall and especially Halloween. But with it done and over I can begin to listen to Christmas music and get ready for the season.

WEEZER

So finally the concert came! It was on Tuesday night so we felt pretty cool being rebellious and hanging out on a weeknight. We put on the Weezer tee's I made (again compliments of Mysha), cranked a Weezer CD and headed south to the E center. I don't who was the moron that put the E center in West Valley, but it is quite a trash hole. The concert began 7:30 on the dot with Tokyo Police Club. They were as good as their name implies. Next was Angels and Airwaves. Not bad, but we definitely could have done with out his profanity between songs. And finally glorious Weezer graced us with their presence. They are such amazing performers. Their songs are great live-just like on CD. Rivers, the lead singer, was hilarious. He had a mini trampoline he would jump on from time to time as well as a soccer ball to kick around. They came out wearing the white jumpsuits from their music video Pork and Beans. They all took turns playing the instruments and singing. They brought 30 Weezer fans with them who play instruments to play the music to Island in the Sun and Beverly Hills. Everyone had their part. They played the music, Rivers sang the lyrics and we sang HipHip or the chorus to Beverly Hills. It was such a bonding experience. We had so much fun screaming along to their songs. We couldn't stop smiling. They said they're coming to concert again next year and we'll be there! I've added some pics and video. I want to apologize now for my rancid singing. I know I'm absolutely terrible so don't feel bad for me. The concert was so loud so I couldn't hear how bad it was, but my camera seemed to pick up just me singing. It's bad so prepare yourself.
