Two Months

Charlotte is two months old!  Actually I am a little late posting this and she is 9 weeks old.  We are loving her and having so much fun with her.  She is such a good baby and I feel spoiled.  All future children will probably frustrate me after having her.  She sleeps a LOT.  She usually hits the sack around 8:30 p.m. then wakes up for a late feeding and then an early feeding.  She has started to give me 7 or 8 hour stretches which is nice.  She then goes back to sleep and snoozes until 9 or 10 a.m. and then will take about two more naps during the day.  After she wakes up and eats she likes to smile and coo and goo with me for a while.  She likes being on her tummy and has even fallen asleep that way a few times.  She seems to recognize Jack and appears to be both happy and alarmed when he is in her face.  At her two month check up she was 11 lbs 12 ounces (the 70th percentile) and 23.5 inches long (90th percentile).  She is much bigger than Jack was.  She is very patient and it usually takes a lot for her to really cry and get upset.  Often times she will just give me a soft little "Maaaa"  when she needs something.  Even at night when she is hungry she just rustles and grunts to wake me up.  She is such a little delight and I can't wait to continue to see her personality develop.

She has her dorky kitten jammies on here.  It is appropriate though because I like to call her "kitten".  Jack has heard me say this and likes to call her kitten too.

Jack will often request to do tummy time with sister.  He always runs over and lays down with her.

This wasn't as brutal as it looks.  He was actually just wiping some spit away for her.

My friends call me Logan

Jack's best friend is Logan.  It doesn't matter that I care for the boy all day long and not to mention I did carry him for nine months and birth him, Logan is his favorite.  And they are lucky it's so dang cute so I don't mind.  Logan is so good at playing with Jack that I don't blame him.  We recently taught Jack that our names are Logan and Sara.  For some reason he will now switch between Logan and Dad when he refers to Logan.  I am still Mommy though.  Sometimes Jack will ask me "Where is Daddy?"  Other times it's "Where is Logan?"  It's so funny to hear him say "Let's go play Logan."
Jack loves exercising with Logan.  He did this all on his own and lined up next to him for some stretches.

Playing

Just a few pictures of us playing.

Painting with trucks.  Jack loved it.

I got these sorting bears to teach colors, patterns, counting, etc.  Jack likes to sort them but he mostly enjoys playing "bears" and driving them around in his trucks and dumping them.

Jack has a great memory.  For his two year birthday his cake had this toy backhoe on it.  Now he likes to make a play dough birthday cake with his backhoe and reenact it.  He makes me sing Happy Birthday to him too.

Digging in the garden.

Jack named this tractor and dump truck Travis and Trevor.  They go with him everywhere.

Me, Jack and Char just hanging out.

Picnic

I drew a big road map for Jack to color and drive trucks on.  He had many requests of what had to be on it.  Liam's house and Chick Fila

Kai's house

Bennett's house.

Our house with his two grandma's and the pool out back.  Grandma Alice is holding her dump truck and Grandma Kay is holding her dirt play dough.

C ville spring

Words cannot express how beautiful Charlottesville is in the spring.  We are loving it.  The Cherry Blossoms are everywhere as well as happy little bright pink, purple, white and red bushes.  It's amazing.  I haven't been able to take pictures of it and if I did it just wouldn't do it justice.  Here are a few pictures of us out for a nice Sunday walk.

The Rotunda

We recently went for a little adventure to central campus downtown and had a picnic on the lawn by the famous Rotunda.  There was 6 moms and 12 kids.  We were quite the spectacle.  We even braved the university bus to get there.  Jack loved the bus.  It was a perfect day for a picnic and the kids (and moms) were wore out by the time we got home.
Me, Stacey, Kai and Charlotte riding the bus.

Stacey and Kai Wotring, Erin, Calvin and Emily Gibbons, Heather, Cole and Jude Glass, Me and Charlotte and Bennet and Lucy Smith.  Jamie Smith is taking our picture and Alison Vedomske and her three kids joined us later.

And as usual, Charlotte slept the entire trip.

I love that Kai is smashing a bug right here.

Charlotte and Cole.  Cole is one week older than Char.

I am such a mom.  A baby strapped to the front, diaper bag on back and my white legs.

Jack and his buds.  Jude, Kai, Cameron, and Bennett.

Hershrungs

It seems we have had a bit of bad luck when it comes to health lately.  I know it could be a lot worse so I am grateful for that but it can still be a challenge.  When Charlotte was born she was a little bit Jaundice so we had to take her to the doctor to have her levels checked often.  That went away and we were glad.  Then I started not feeling so well and ended up having a really bad kidney infection.  At first they were concerned it was kidney stones but thank heavens it wasn't.  Then Jack and Charlotte got sick with colds and what not.  Then at Charlotte's one month check up the doctor asked me if her belly always looked so big.  And after she pointed it out I thought yes she does seem to have a giant belly, but I just figured she was fat.  The pediatrician sent us to the hospital for an x-ray and then we went to a specialist the next day to see what was causing her stomach to be so swollen.  She seems to have trouble passing stool and everything was getting backed up.  He thought maybe it could be Hershrungs disease where part of the colon isn't working properly to push stool along and they have to surgically remove it.  This may still be a possibility but right now we are hoping it isn't and that she just has a tight rear end that doesn't allow her to pass stool as frequently as she should.  So we are taking some measures to try and help things work properly (I won't share the details) and we go back to the specialist in about 2 weeks to see if things are improving.  She seem to be doing better and her stomach isn't so huge these days.  She is generally a happy baby.  We didn't even know anything was wrong because she is such a good baby. Hopefully this takes care of the problem.  So with all of this nonsense and a few other health ailments here and there, I am so sick of doctor visits.  But like I said, I know it could be much worse and everyone has to take their turn sometime right?  I am just thankful for the health we do have!
Char and her poor swollen belly.  So fat!
