Cleanin' the Sink!

When I first moved to Logan, one of the first things that caught my eye was these bumper stickers all around town that say "I cleaned the Sink at Angies".  It peaked my interest and it turns out in order to receive one, you have to eat a "sink" full of ice cream from the hometown restaurant Angies.  I vowed I could do it all by myself and one day would.  Well here we are almost 5 years later and I have yet to step foot in Angies ("Where the locals eat" is there is slogan).  That was until Friday.  We went with the Lloyds determined to clean the sink.  We ate first which filled us up so cleaning the sink was a little rough but given the right conditions I think Logan and I could have done a sink on our own (with mostly my participation, I can eat ice cream like its nobody's business, its a Pickett thing).

Law School Latest

Where to begin?  Lets see, we had our first rejection- Yale said no.  No real surprise there.  We also got wait listed at Berkley.  We wanted to go there but after learning more about the school and atmosphere we feel this is for the best.  We got into New York University.  Cool, but NY is not for us.  Basically we have it narrowed down between Ann Arbor Michigan and Charlottesville Virginia.  And so Logan and I are venturing on a trip to visit these two places this week.  We are not happy about the dough we have to fork out to do this, but figure it is pretty important to see where we will be spending the next couple years of our lives.  Hopefully we can have a little fun while we are out there too.  So it is most likely one of these two unless Stanford decided to speak up.

20,000 Bouncy Balls

I love random events.  So when I heard the physics department on campus was going to drop 20,000 bouncy balls from a helicopter into the stadium parking lot my head almost exploded.  They were proving some NASA point as well as breaking a world record.  Thousands showed up to watch which made the event even more hilarious that we all had nothing better to do.  This event also included Jacks two favorite things: balls and things in the air.  Unfortunately he had an ear infection that we were unaware of and was no so thrilled to be there.  Too bad, he would have loved it.  Anyway, they kept us in anticipation for about 30 minutes.  We were all staring at what turned out to be news or decoy helicopter and then out of no where the real one flew in.   People started freaking out.  Bouncy balls were everywhere.  Some had numbers on them which meant you could lottery ball for a prize.  My friend Erica got one, but no prize.  Logan and I decided that rich people should spend their money more often to entertain us civilians with dumb activities such as this.  P.S. there was a rumor that they ended up dropping 40,000 bouncy balls....who knows.

Bag-oshes

Jack loves to play in puddles.  It is hard to keep him out of any body of water no matter the size.  I have wanted to get him rain boots or galoshes, but his feet grow at an incredible rate and they are so expensive.  So we tried bag-oshes the other day.  I remember my dad mentioning something about using plastic sacks as rain boots long ago so we gave it a shot.  They actually worked quite well.  It was pouring outside and I followed Jack around with an umbrella as he splashed in the puddles.  I think he liked it; it was hard to tell because he is still getting over his week long sickness. Maybe next time I can fashion him a garbage sack raincoat to go with it.

We were hot and then cold...

Even though spring break doesn't really apply to us anymore, we decided to celebrate it.  First, I dropped Logan off at the airport to fly out with some of his professors and classmates to Atlanta to an engineering conference.  Jack and I played in Gunnison with the families for a few days.  I picked Logan up from the airport and brought him to Gunnison to join us.  Then we left Jack (for the first time over night!) and headed to St. George with our good friends the Lloyds.  They have a condo down there.  It was four days of swimming, tanning, tennis, eating, movies, games, napping, and more eating.  It was amazing!  So nice to just sit.  We also did a little hiking in Leeds which is just about 15 minutes away.  It was a fun slot canyon with waterfalls and as Nate called them "slides".  It was about 80 degrees but oh man that water was cold!  Seriously, fresh off the mountain cold.  The boys were brave and jumped in first.  Me and Dani finally caved to peer pressure. When I jumped in, loud pitch weird screams involuntarily left my mouth.  On Saturday Logan and I slept in, went to breakfast and then hung out by the pool.  We packed up our stuff and headed back home.  On our way we stopped in Cedar City to snowboard.  It was insane to be working on your tan one moment and then two hours later to be snowboarding.  That is what makes Utah so amazing!

Jack loves his mommy, but no one can make him giggle and scream like his dad.  You could say Logan is Jack's BFF (best father forever).

Ever since Jack was born, Jack has had bath time with daddy.  I think I have only given Jack about 7 or 8 baths.  It's a fun time for both of them and Logan has all sorts of odd games for them to play.

Wii-nner

Logan and I got a Wii a couple of months ago.  Normally I am not into nintendo, but it has turned out to be an awesome purchase.  It all started when the new Wii game of Donkey Kong Country came out.  Staci and I used to sneak into our brothers room to play the original Super Nintendo version of Donkey Kong Country all the time.  Such fond memories. So it was sort of random that Logan and I bought one, but we have found a couple other games we like too.  We love to play together after Jack is in bed or sometimes we challenge each other to see who has to change Jack's poopy diaper.  We have also started having regular Wii parties with some friends of ours.  This last time we decided to make it official.  Costumes were required and prizes given.  Logan drew up a Wii Bracket of Greatness.  We even rearranged the furniture to make room for the serious competition.  We had delicious greasy food and stayed up into the wee hours to see who would be champion.  I took the crown.  That may seem lame that I dominated at my own party, but I truly was an underdog.  Just ask Logan, my nintendo skills stink.  But somehow I performed well under pressure and when it came down between me and Erica, I was champion.  Dani and her creativity took the prize for best costume. She dressed as bananas. 

The theme was to come as a Nintendo character.  Logan was Link from Zelda, I was Mario, and Jack was Yoshi.  It took me all afternoon to track down a mustache.

The Haircut

Jack finally had his first hair cut at almost 15 months.  Too many strangers have called my son a girl.  So even though I liked his long locks, I figured it was time.  My friend Whitney who does my hair was kind enough to do Jacks too.  He was a good boy and didn't seem to mind.  We kept it pretty long still and I think it is pretty cute!

Jack has a shoe fetish.  Whenever we go to playgrounds where you have to remove your shoes, instead of playing Jack just spends his time gathering up everyones shoes into piles.

The Toothbrush

Jack is a busy boy these days.  Always getting into something.  He loves to build towers with blocks and seems to have a natural skill at it.  He loves to sit in his pool floatie and just hang out.  He loves to read books on his little red chair.  His favorite books are books with animals, balls, and cars.  He has a few animal sounds and actions he knows.  He can do a pig, monkey, owl, fish, cow, snake, and a few others here and there.  He can also fold his arms (for about 5 seconds) and he recognizes Jesus.  As you can see from most of these pictures he also LOVES having a toothbrush in his mouth.  It was funny at first but then it started to worry me seeing him run around the house with it so I tried taking it away and that didn't go well.  Then an awesome coincidence happened.  We had a guest speaker at our women's conference and she just so happened to have designed a bendable toothbrush that is safer for children to use.  She had a grandson fall on his toothbrush.  It went through the roof of his mouth and into his brain. He was okay in the end.  How sad though!!  She was so kind that she gave a bunch away to mothers with babies.  So now Jack carries his banana brush around and I am not so stressed.  They sell these toothbrushes at Toys R Us.  Here  is the link: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3476181
