Chary

Oh Char.  So much personality in this little girl.  Charlotte is about three months shy of turning two.  She is at that age where she is taking it all in and learning so fast.  She finally had a burst of language and is talking so much.  She can repeat or at least tries to repeat most words you say.  And although she can speak in English, she still fills the day with lots of Charlotte-ese (her made up language).  Some of my favorite words she says right now:
yellow- she says this all day long to everything, when she is bored she will just started yelling yellow
a bug- it's never bug, it's always "a bug."  The other day she walked over to me, handed me a caterpillar, and said, "a bug."
elmo
dragon
peeeeze! (please)
bow- she is obsessed with her bows and must be wearing one at all times
eyes, ears, nose, mouth
hello
up, bike, hat, kitty, bus
She still loves books and would sit on your lap and read them all day if she could.  One of her favorite books is a Sesame Street book which we read over and over.  Logan and I are hating that book right now.  But what she loves most is the Halloween book Room on the Broom.  We now own the book, app, and movie of Room on the Broom because she can't get enough.  We love to peak at her watching the movie because she always has a slight grin on her face.
She is super opinionated about what she wears and its killing me.  What 20 month old cares what clothes they wear!? She hates jackets and sweaters and would wear her swimming suit everyday if I let her.
She is Jack's shadow and mimics him all day long.  This is both good and bad.
She is accident prone and is always injuring her head.  She is 30% weight, 50% height and 90% head so that head and gravity don't get along.
She loves to do the dishes in the sink and to be my helper and sit on the counter while I cook and clean.
We go to music time once a week and she is way into it and loves to participate.
We have an Ipad/technology problem with this girl.  She loves it a tad too much.
We also have a candy problem with this girl.  Remember Jack who preferred carrots and grapes over any treat until he was about three years old.  Not this one.  She is her mother's daughter and wants candy for breakfast.
She loves to snuggle and be rocked and sometimes just to be held.
She is super friendly and is always making friends (especially with adults) wherever we go.
We love Char.
Loves Books.
She loves Tangled.
Poor girl fell in the tub and bruised her cheek.  Nothing some Oreos and Tangled can't fix.
We went to the doctor and got vaccinations.  No that's not why she is crying here.  She handled the shots no problem.  This was afterwards when we went through the automatic car wash.  Terrifying.
Black eye.
My peach eating a peach.
Playing with my phone.
Ipad obsession.  Intervention.

Doing the dishes.
Pup and stroller.  Her favorite toys.
Puppy, a ball, a cookie and a whopper in her mouth.  This girl couldn't be any happier.

And we're back

We have a bucket list to accomplish before we move back west so we wasted no time and headed first to a trip in Richmond.  We went to Maymont, a mansion with lots of land, animals, and hikes.  It was a humid day, my Achilles heal, and I was a tad cranky on our hike but everyone else had a great time.  Afterward we went downtown for some ice cream and to window shop for a bit.  We picked up our friends from the airport and then grabbed dinner on our way home.

At Maymont.
Looking at the geese.
Spotting the bald eagles.

Downtown Richmond.  The kids really enjoyed this window cat a book store soaking up some sun.
Back in C'Ville.  Char headed out in Jack's rain boots.
We make this walk a few time a week.  Jack picking flowers.  Such a little nature lover.
The eagle carving we always pass.
No reason for these, I just love how sweet they look when they sleep.
Well I don't know if sweet describes it, but they are fun pictures.

Well that was our summer.  Pretty amazing.  We then headed back to Charlottesville with our most successful road trip yet.  It was nice to be back to our house but we sure do miss everyone so much and can't wait to live closer again.  A few more pictures of our last days of fun.

A weekend with Miss Gracy

Gracy and Miranda came up to stay with us while in Provo and we had so much fun with them.  We went to the Provo Rec Center and later that day we met Logan at the Fun Center for some games and prizes. That weekend was also Gracy's birthday which was awesome because we are usually back in Virginia when her birthday comes.  I took the kids and we swam with them and had treats in Payson.
Getting warm after a swim.

Gracy had a super cute mustache party.
We love you Gracy!

A Hogwarts Reunion

The Mathews family loves themes.  A good theme makes anything fun.  Our theme this year was Harry Potter.  My mom helped a lot with the activities and it was a lots of fun.  We were sorted into houses by Professor Mcgonagal and Dumbledoor and the sorting hat.  I made Gryffendor of course.  The kids did a dragon hunt, we had a movie night and a fun photo shoot.  It was held at the lodge in Manti again which is always fun to be so close to the temple.
The kids sorting out their dragons and eggs after the hunt.

Me and Stabi.

Char and Jake learning to get along.
Watching Harry Potter on the lawn.
Bellatrix and Harry.
Being sorted by Professor Mcgonagal and the sorting house.

Jack learned to play laser tag with all the big boys.  He thought it was the greatest thing ever and still talks about it.
Sweet Char.

That weekend the movie Disney Planes also came out.  It was a terrible movie but Jack was way into it.
