We love dad

With the weather being nice lately, we have started making lots of visits up to the law school to visit dad. It's a short walk, jog or bike ride and sometimes we even jump on the bus (Jack loves riding the bus).  We check out movies from the library or ride bikes or play with balls and we always have to end our trip with playing in the fountain.  And every now and then we get a treat from the little grocery store.  The kids love to see dad.  I love student life.  Besides the lack of money, I have no complaints :)
Spies Garden in the law school.  So pretty.
She is always wearing those necklaces...

Someone put some rubber ducks in the fountain.  This entertained them for about an hour.

Sharing treats with dad.
Jack likes to park his bike by the others.

He is thinking about it....
And there he goes.
Fearless.

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ

With Jack being in Sunbeams now, it has been fun to see him start to understand the concepts of the Gospel and Church.  It has started to feel more meaningful and worthwhile to teach him things, but it is also more intimidating too.  Both him and Char love family home evening.  Our lessons are short and sweet but they love the attention and the playing we do as a family.  Treats are not that common yet and are usually just fruit (because they don't know any different).  Here is a family home evening that we were learning about how God created the birds and bugs (we usually do the sunbeam lesson he will learn on Sunday).  We made birds nests out of rice krispies and jelly beans.  A week later it was General Conference weekend.  Listening to Conference has become a real challenge so thank heavens they reprint them in the Ensign.  We were still able to here some important principles and to spend time as a family.  I am so thankful for the Gospel and the ways it blesses my family.  We went on a little hike to Ivy Creek and took along a picnic between the Saturday sessions.  Jack and Char loved it.

A General Conference picnic.
Trying to burn off some energy between sessions.  I think it was a success.
We went on a hike on Saturday to Ivy Creek and had a picnic.  Jack and Char loved wading in the water.

Jack colored a picture in Sunbeams.  He was excited to show it to me and exclaimed, "Look, it's Eve and Steve!"

Easter

Spring stuck around a lot longer this year and so Easter was a tad rainy.  Luckily the days leading up to Easter were still nice and sunny.  Our ward had a 5k and Easter egg hunt.  First the primary kids raced.  This was the first time Jack has raced.  Pretty entertaining to watch.  He was starting to get sick that day, but he still ran his little legs hard.  All the kids got medals.  Then it was the ward 5k.  We (and by we, I mean strictly Logan) pushed the kids in the stroller.  We ran it with friends and it was lots of fun.  I am a big fan of 5ks.  Once we got back it was it the egg hunt.  It's amazing how quickly those are over.  The Virginia Law Families also had an egg hunt at the law school in Spies Garden.  And finally, we did the usual traditions as a family, dyed eggs and had our own egg hunt.  Charlotte was a fan of carrying a basket around and filling it with eggs.

King Benjamin (aka Bishop Schill) spoke to us before the races.  This is one of  Jack's favorite stories from the scriptures and he was pretty excited to see King Benjamin.
Hearkening King Benjamin's words.

Refueling after the race.

Dying eggs.  Jack loved this this year.  He was very possessive of his eggs.   He liked to take them out of the fridge and look at them.  One day he took them out and they got left out for a long time.  He then wanted to go outside and play with them.  Later when he came in he told me he ate a bunch.  Gross.
Our family egg hunt.

Jack got an umbrella.  He loves his umbrella.

Grandma Alice sent an Easter package for the kids.  They get so excited when we get stuff in the mail.  Now every time Jack wants something he tells me Grandma Alice is sending it in the mail.  He thinks it's just going to magically appear.
