All Hallow's Eve

Our Halloween October was perfect this year. It had everything you can ask for in a Halloween: pumpkin carving, corn mazes, The Logan Pumpkin Walk, a murder mystery and trick or treating. Fall is probably one of our favorite times of year and it was fun to have the Jackster around to watch him have his many fall "firsts." He has eaten many leaves and licked numerous pumpkins.

Our carved pumpkins this year. Both the pumpkins and the over sized zucchini are home grown from our garden. Unfortunately, we had 6 more pumpkins but someone stole them. We feel it may have been because of Logan's bad karma from stealing my uncle's pumpkins in high school and smashing them. What goes around comes around.

My good friend pranked us and put a huge stack of pumpkins on our doorstep. Jack's favorite thing to do is to knock each one off the porch over and over again.

Our Halloween costumes; a dinosaur and cave people. They weren't as awesome as I had hoped. We didn't end up doing much on Halloween so I didn't put in too much effort. But we did get to take Jack to a couple relatives houses to trick or treat.

The murder mystery dinner I hosted; "The Chicago Caper." It was a 1920s theme and so fun. Everyone did a great job getting into their characters and playing along. We did it at our stake center and had a three course meal to go with it.

At first we couldn't get the tape to play; a crucial part to the game. Luckily we found an old tape player at the church; probably from the 1920s and it worked!

Builder Jack

The corn maze. We decided to go with the Tippets because Brad worked for a corn maze back in the day and knew the insider secrets.

Jack was a trooper. We started the corn maze at 630 and didn't realize the maze becomes haunted at 7. He endured many masked men with chainsaws and creepy corn people. He seemed fine, but I am sure these memories will haunt him.

Gunnison part 2

I wanted to finish posting a few more pictures of my stay in Gunnison with my sister. It was definitely a trip down memory lane.

We played in the tree house. I can still remember being tortured by my brothers when we were caught playing in there.

All we ever wanted was a power wheel growing up, but we never got one. Then the grandkids come along and suddenly my dad has no problem buying 2.

UCLA

We got into UCLA and with a cushy little scholarship too! We would also love to attend UCLA. Here are the quick facts about Los Angeles:

It is a 9 hour drive to Gunnison from LA. It is the closest school we are applying to.

LA has more than 80 stage theaters and 300 museums, more than any other US state

24 million people vacation in LA every year

The five county area of LA has 20 million people. Yikes.

It is home to the original Bay Watch television show.

Texas Longhorns

Logan got a phone call yesterday. We were accepted to Texas at Austin. Not only that but with Scholarship! We are quite excited about this. We think Texas would be fun. Its supposed to be quite outdoorsy and friendly. We have heard good things. Here are some quick facts about Austin:

The official state mammal is the armadillo. This is one reason alone to choose Texas.

Population: roughly 710,000 people.

It has been on all sorts of "best city" lists

172 parks and 9 wilderness areas

You can get an apartment starting around $600. (as opposed to many of the other schools we've applied to where rent starts around $1300 and climbs up from there)

The Cache County Fair

I forgot to do a post about the Cache County Fair back in August. The fair is one of our favorites, we love dumb animals. And it turns out Jack loved them too. We had a good look at the chickens, bunnies, cows, and pigs, but by far our favorite was the pigmy goats. I have got to get me three of these little cat sized goats.

Sister Sister

My sister came to Utah for a visit a couple weeks ago. She even drove 5 extra hours so she could come to Logan and stay with us before heading to Gunnison. It was so fun to have visitors! Our 3 days were short but stuffed with activities. I tried to think of all the things that make Logan great so we started off with feeding the ducks at First Dam and eating some Famous Aggie Ice cream on campus. We headed up Green Canyon that night to roast some marshmallows. All three boys were ridiculously dirty at the end of the night. Thats what little boys do best right? The next day we went to Willow Park Zoo, always a favorite. Somehow Staci and I managed to do a quick mini photo shoot of the boys later that day. And that evening enjoyed some grub at the Beehive Grill. Our main motive for going there was kids eat free, but it turned out being quite tasty. I introduced Staci to Project Runway and Chopped and Adam and Wills loved playing with Jack's toys and going on Duck walks next to our house. It was so fun and they are more than welcome to visit again!
